Cycle to Walk was welcomed warmly to Lachute, Québec at City Hall on our first day in the province. 

7200 kilomètres! C’est ce qui sépare Victoria de Cape Spear à Terre-Neuve, itinéraire qu’arpentera Ramesh Ferris d’ici le 1er octobre. Un dur défi certes, mais Ferris n’est pas seul dans son voyage. Une petite équipe d’environ cinq personnes planifie et accompagne Ramesh Ferris dans ses déplacements.

Day 132 - Québec City, Québec - 129 km

imageI’m in awe of the beauty of the banks of the St. Lawrence! Today was such a brilliant day for hand cycling, with hot weather and cool tailwinds coming off the St. Lawrence. Today’s route had the team travelling along the Chemin du Roy – The King’s Highway – which hugged the riverbank for most of the day. When we weren’t travelling along the river, we were nestled between beautiful old communities, churches, and bridges.  Many residents applauded our arrival into their towns.

L’Écho de Maskinongé did this piece on Cycle to Walk as we travelled past Montréal to Trois Rivières.

Parti de Victoria en Colombie-Britannique le 12 avril dernier, Ramesh Ferris, originaire de Whitehorse au Yukon, était de passage dans la région afin d’amasser des fonds pour la polio, maladie infectieuse aiguë qui s’attaque à la substance grise de la moelle épinière.

Day 130 - Montréal/Laval, Québec - Non-Cycling

imageToday was great! We drove into Montréal bright and early to join Kim, Pete and Merv on 97.7 CHOM FM’s morning show. We went live at 8:10 am and had a great time with everyone in the studio. Fred Avertick, a local communications specialist, met us at the station. Fred has been working with Chris to help attract media in the Montréal area, and he joined us for the first half of the day.
