28 Days and Counting
- Fri, March 14, 2008
Our first blog entry, how exciting! So, 28 days to go and we’re feverishly working on the various components of organizing accommodations, events, the logistics of getting our vehicles on the road and of course, Ramesh is training diligently down in Vancouver (in the rain I’m told) to be ready for the April 10th ceremonial kick off in Whitehorse. I’m not sure any of us were prepared for the scope of organizing something this massive when we took on the project but all of our board members and those of us plugging away in the office are pulling together, and all systems should be go within the next 3 weeks.
We are immensely grateful for all the great Canadians, Rotary organizations, Anglican Churches, Lions Clubs, Legions and various others who have jumped on board and are working away at hosting fundraisers, billeting road crew members, offering meals and pilot cars and school groups offering to ride along with Ramesh as he comes through their various communities. It’s heartening and encouraging to know we have support across the country to bring awareness the Cycle to Walk polio eradication, education and rehabilitation campaign. Our fervent wish at this time is that we keep this ball rolling and hear from many others who wish to step forward to help out. At this time we are seeking accommodations for our crew, fundraising events to help us meet our target goal, sponsorship opportunities and just general support wherever it may come from. We are open to all your ideas and welcome participation at any level.
Many, many thanks at this time to all the folks in Victoria working diligently to ensure that the kick-off at Mile 0 is going to be spectacular. We invite everyone to come out on April 12th at Mile 0 in Victoria to celebrate the start of Ramesh’s Cycle to Walk for polio. Ok, so now I have to get back to work as the clock is ticking. Cheers.
