Small towns are just great! Nipigon, while not large in size, has an enormous heart! When the team arrived at the visitor information centre this morning, there were so many people there to wish us well and show support for the Cycle to Walk campaign. Thank you, Ko, from the local Interact Club for organizing so many supporters to greet us here in Nipigon – your leadership is to be commended.

After a presentation from members of North of Superior Snowmobile Association, people from the community had an opportunity to cycle with the team through town down to the Marina. Even Doug, Cycle to Walk’s Tour Manager, had a chance to come out from behind the wheel and join me for a cycle.  Nipigon is the hometown of en-route team member Carly Ray. It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to meet and visit with so many of her friends and family.
Tonight the Rotary Club of Nipigon and Reverend Diane Hilpert-McIlroy hosted a fundraising dinner for Cycle to Walk at St. Mary’s Anglican Church. It was a wonderful evening to spread the message, to meet new friends, and to eat some wonderful food. Thank you to Mayor Richard Harvey and everyone for coming out tonight to show your support for a polio free world – it means so much to us!
To the Rotary Club of Nipigon, thank you for seeing that Cycle to Walk is here as a bridge to the general public to help increase awareness and funds for the eradication efforts of Rotary International’s Polio Plus program and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Cycle to Walk and Rotary share common goals, and have proven time and again that we work well together!
