Today the campaign entered the realm of triple digits. I can’t believe it – Day 100! This morning, we received a warm welcome by the Very Reverend Nelson Small and members of the St. Luke’s Anglican Cathedral. Over the past year, the cathedral has hosted several fundraising music concerts, puppet shows, and BBQs to raise funds and awareness for Cycle to Walk. On entering the church, we were welcomed by a lovely bulletin board full of Cycle to Walk information, pictures and clippings. It’s very apparent that the congregation has been following the progress of Cycle to Walk with great interest. After the service, many people stayed to hear more about our experiences on the road, take pictures, buy t-shirts, and make donations.

In the evening, Reverend Stephen Blackmore and members of Holy Trinity Anglican Church welcomed the Cycle to Walk team for a special service and information session. At the end of the service, people mingled and met with the team, bought t-shirts, and made donations. I met Nathaniel, Wendy, and Marian Birkinshaw tonight, and was surprised to learn that they had all been in Whitehorse back in 2002 when they read a newspaper article in the Whitehorse Star about me preparing for my trip to India to meet my biological mother and visit Families for Children orphanage. After reading the article six years ago and then learning about Cycle to Walk, the Birkinshaws shared with me that they have been following the campaign and are so happy to see its progress. It was great to meet you all today!

Today was a mixed feeling of emotions, as I was excited revisit the two churches I often frequented when I lived in Sault Ste. Marie, but I was sad not knowing when I’d see a lot of these people again. The outpouring of support that Cycle to Walk has received since arriving here in ‘the Soo.’ We’ve loved our time here.

Thanks everyone in Sault Ste. Marie for all of the hard work you have put into spreading the important message of needing to come together to work for a polio free world, and thank-you for supporting Cycle to Walk.
