imageJack and Joyce Varieur at Turtle Creek Lodge and Gardens ensured we were comfortable last night, and we all slept very well. Thanks so much for the wonderful hospitality at your beautiful home! After taking a picture with some new friends and their stuffed animals, the team hit the road destined for South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island.

It was a short cycle this morning, and we rolled into South Baymouth just before lunch. There were lines of cars waiting to catch the Chi-Cheemaun ferry to Tobermory, but we weren’t scheduled to board until 9 am tomorrow. As people waited for the ferry in their cars, the team visited up and down the rows and shared the message of Cycle to Walk. It was such a fun afternoon giving out wristbands, taking donations, and hearing personal stories of connections to polio.

I met a retired Doctor by the name of Stephen Karran and his wife Sue today. They are traveling through Canada and plan to spend some time at their cottage in the USA. Both Stephen and Sue live in the United Kingdom and were just so excited at the idea of stirring up interest for Cycle to Walk in the UK. Later, I had a wonderful time with old friends, Dave and Cathy White, who drove from Lively, Ontario to spend some time with the team. Beautiful weather, new friends, great awareness, and lots of support have made our journey on Manitoulin Island a memorable time.

We will exit the Anglican Diocese of Algoma tomorrow, and I’d just like to thank Bishop Ron Ferris (AKA Dad), the clergy, and parishioners across the Diocese. Everyone has worked so hard over the past year to fundraise and stage events for Cycle to Walk. The road team has felt warm welcomes in every community we’ve visited, and it’s been great spending time with you all as the campaign has rolled across the Diocese.
