Day 108 - Meaford, Ontario - 84 km

by Ramesh Ferris, posted in Road Updates - Mon, July 28, 2008

imageToday started off with a gourmet stuffed-French toast and frittata breakfast cooked up by our host Danielle Paterson at the Gadd-About B&B. Afterwards, we started the cycling day just outside of Wiarton, cycling all the way through to Meaford.

We participated in two local interviews over the course of the day: one with the “Georgian Bay Today” radio show on CFOS 560, and another with the Owen Sound Sun Times. Also, I was able to touch bases with the hometown team in the Yukon Territory through CKRW 610 The Rush as well.

The team returned to Owen Sound and was warmly welcomed by the Owen Sound Rotary Club for a roast beef dinner. Thanks so much to President Kenton Acton and all of the Rotarians for your words of encouragement, donations and commitment to wear your new Cycle to Walk wrist bands until the end of the campaign. Also, thank you for donating two hotel rooms to us.  Everyone on the team had a great sleep last night!

It excites me to know that more and more people are supporting the Cycle to Walk campaign after learning just how close the world is to eradicating polio. Team spirit is high after learning at dinner that Rotary International highlighted Cycle to Walk in its monthly mail out. Thanks so much to Rotary International for leading the private sector in the fight for a polio free world. We share the same goals and will spread the message together. It’s time to make polio history!
