Okay, so I think every person, pet and passer-by in Peterborough now knows about Cycle to Walk. Thanks to the wonderful - and loud - police escort that was provided by Constable Dan Gemmiti, his wife Jill, and their daughters Olivia and Quinn. Constable Dan took the team through the main streets of Peterborough to the Holiday Inn where the Rotary Club of Peterborough-Kawartha, the Bridgenorth-Ennismore-Lakefield Rotary Club, and members of St. John ‘s Anglican Church warmly greeted us.

We were so excited by the showing of support by the people of Peterborough. Mayor Paul Ayotte, Rotary District 7010 Governor Tom Bennett, and others all came out to show their support for coming together to end polio. Many individual donations were given on top of presentations by both Rotary clubs. Thank you to everyone for your support. You truly are sending a message within your community and to the rest of the world that it’s time to eradicate polio!

Today was our first day back on the road in over five days. It took a bit of time to get
my body adjusted to hand cycling again, but I was fine after a couple of short hills. We arrived in town a bit early and stopped for a late lunch at Ricky’s All Day Grill, where Cindy Crowley treated us to a delicious meal. Thanks for that! Thank you also to Rev. Gordon Finney for arranging billets for the entire team.

I just spoke with my father this evening and learned that my Sister Jill in Chilliwack B.C. has just given birth to a beautiful baby boy named Holden Parker. Congratulations Jill and Aaron, I know you won’t think twice of ensuring that baby Holden will receive his 3 doses of the polio vaccine which are needed at 2 months, 4 months, and 6 months!
