Day 121 - Kemptville, Ontario - 26 km

imageWell I know the team is on the move again, as I’m seeing fewer and fewer Toronto Maple Leafs license plates and more Ottawa Senators license plates.

We said goodbye to Cathie and Bruce Scott this morning before we hit the road – thank you for the great breakfast! Today was a short cycling day into the small community of Kempton. Because of traffic and safety considerations, this is as close the team will get cycling into the Ottawa area. We’ll drive north in to the city from here.

Today marks Carly Ray’s final day on the road. When we leave Ottawa, she’ll be heading back home in the other direction. It has been such a pleasure to have Carly on the team. She has brought an upbeat, positive attitude to the team, and has worked incredibly hard for this campaign.  Thanks so much Carly for volunteering your time over the past three months to assist in spreading the important message of Cycle to Walk to as many Canadians possible. The team will miss your corny jokes, your RV driving skills (Soft Shoulders), your spontaneous song and dance numbers, and of course, that wonderful smile!
Today the team welcomes Dr. Allon Reddoch who has travelled from Whitehorse to be with us during our stay in the Ottawa area. Doug and Bertha are enjoying as much time with their grandchildren as possible, Chris is working to engage local media, Carly is packing, and I’m recovering after hand-cycling over 200 km in 2 days.
A great big thanks to Yukon MP Larry Bagnell’s assistant Melissa Delaney for taking the time on her day off to provide us with keys at our billet’s apartment. We’ll be in the Ottawa area for the next few days.
