imageQuébecers are giving Cycle to Walk thumbs up everywhere! Although it was a short sleep given the Celine Dion concert last night, the team was energized and we were ready to go for another day of Cycle to Walk action bright and early!

Constables Martin Ferland and Carl Deschenes of the service de la police de la Ville de Québec met up with us on police motorcycles to provide the team with an escort through Quebec City to the Lévis ferry. The route was absolutely amazing! There were steep climbs and downhills, sharp corners, ancient cobblestone streets, and old buildings. People watched and waved, pointed and gave donations as we weaved our way through the city.

While we were on the ferry to the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, we shared the message of Cycle to Walk with fellow cyclists and passengers on board. Constable Pascal Fortier of the service de la police de la Ville de Lévis greeted us on the other side. As we proceeded through the city, people showed their support by cheering, honking, and even coming out of their houses as we passed through their neighborhoods.

I was so excited to hear that all of the police officers that joined us shared the Cycle to Walk message with locals in French today. It’s so important that community members work to spread the message about coming together to eradicate polio. Cycle to Walk will officially end in just over a month, but we need to keep the spirit of the campaign alive. When community members take on the task of talking about polio, I know that our message is taking hold.

Thank you to everyone for showing so much support for Cycle to Walk! The team pushed towards Montmagny this afternoon before returning to Québec City. We still have a couple of great things happening in Québec City, even if our cycling route was pushed ahead a little bit. We will drive out to where we left off on Monday morning and officially arrive in Montmagny for community events there before noon.

À la prochaine!
