We’re staying in lovely Florenceville, New Brunswick – French Fry Capital of the World. The team learned much about the history of potatoes this afternoon when our guide Alex toured us through the nearby Potato World museum. After the tour, I delivered a Cycle to Walk presentation to visitors and guests – including Allison McCain, Chairman of McCain Foods Limited, his wife Clare, and two Directors of the Harrison McCain Foundation, Steve Appleby and Marilyn Strong.

Thank you so much to Mr. McCain and to everyone who took the time out of their day to come and learn more about Cycle to Walk. Also, a big thank you to Steve Appleby and Mardi Thornton, Manager of Potato World, for arranging a place for Cycle to Walk to connect with the citizens of Carleton County.

After the presentation, the kind staff at Potato World prepared a delicious lunch for the team. The interesting thing about this lunch is that everything we ate was made of potatoes – even the chocolate cake! Later in the day, Steve took the team around town to show us some local sights. I even had an opportunity to hand-cycle over a covered bridge.
Our time in Florenceville is quickly coming to an end, but once again we are leaving with such a great feeling of being supported and that we really connected with members of the community. Thank you to everyone in Carleton County for believing in a polio free world and for supporting the message of Cycle to Walk.
