Day 142 - Fredericton, New Brunswick - Non-Cycling

by Ramesh Ferris, posted in Road Updates - Sun, August 31, 2008

imageThis morning we drove ahead of the route to be welcomed by The Right Reverend Dr. Claude Miller, The Very Reverend Keith Joyce and members of Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton. It was wonderful to be able to speak at church today, as the church encompasses so many people from within the community. Today the team was able to connect with polio survivors, Rotarians, church leaders, young people thirsty to learn more about polio, and older people who recalled living in fear of polio during those dreadful days of 1950s.

The people at Christ Church Cathedral showed they heard the message of Cycle to Walk through their generous financial contributions, and by coming forward and saying that they will share the message with a friend or family member. Thank you for your great support!

Once Cycle to Walk rolls out of the Fredericton area, our message needs to stay alive. It’s up to communities across Canada to ensure that our country carries on the fight against polio. Thank you so much to everyone we met today for inviting us to share the message with you, and for ensuring that the message will stay alive within your community in the future. Tomorrow we will drive back to Woodstock, NB and pick up where we left off with the route.

The scenery here is beautiful, and I can’t wait!
