imageToday we enjoyed one last breakfast with our wonderful new friends and host family in Halifax. We sure enjoyed our short visit here. Thanks again to Marjorie, Bob, Julia, Laura, and Kevin for making our stay so welcoming and homey. Thanks also to Sáb for all that you’ve done for us.

Before leaving the Halifax area, I had a great opportunity to visit with MP Alexa McDonough and federal candidate Megan Leslie over coffee. Both expressed support for the Cycle to Walk and applauded our efforts to make Canadians more aware of the realities of polio in the 21st Century.

After a couple of non-cycling days the team was ready to hit the road. As I donned my helmet and got back on to the hand-cycle, I was excited to continue forward on the journey towards PEI. This excitement lasted up until I cycled by a doghouse with the name RAGE painted on it. I then thought to myself that this might not be turning into one of the better days I’ve had in my life…

Thank goodness for the road team – they sure did a great job of ensuring that three potentially hungry dogs didn’t make a meal out of me! The small country roads are beautiful, but they can also be dangerous. We are constantly working as a team to avoid and prevent potential threats, injuries or dangerous situations.  I’m so thankful that Chris Madden can be as loud as he can be when necessary. Even the biggest dogs think twice when he’s yelling at them from the SUV. We all made it to Shubenacadie safely and in one piece, where we packed up for the day and drove into Truro for the night!
