On the eve of Cycle to Walk in Victoria
- Fri, April 11, 2008
So here we are one day before the official launch of the Cycle to Walk Polio campaign. This day was filled with excitement, laughs, deep moments of contemplation (stress), meeting new people, meetings, and media interviews! It truly is a day to celebrate, the team has worked so hard for the launch which is quickly before us! Thank you to all the Greater Victoria Rotary Clubs, Times Colonist, Patricia Wade Design for organizing the and advertising it through out the City!
Later in the afternoon was a time to complete a walk through at Mile Zero of the events that will unfold tomorrow! To my surprise my Brother Matt was there, it was wonderful that he traveled all the way from New Zealand for the weekend to share in the Cycle to Walk launch at Mile Zero. Now my entire Canadian family will be with me for the launch, it means so much to me!
Doug, Bertha, Lynn, and Chris (Doug and Bertha’s Son-In-law) have been working so hard organizing the Motor home and trailer! In the evening the Rotary Club of Victoria hosted a dinner for Cycle to Walk! Thanks Larry Rittenhouse for all your work organizing the dinner and launch, you’ve been so much fun to work with! Later tonight I went with my parents and brother to pick up my sister Elisa at the airport, she was flying in from Whitehorse.
So it’s now midnight and I’m excited, nervous, scared, happy, but most of all I feel ready to Cycle to Walk! Together we will send a message to Canadians and to the rest of the World that we will eradicate polio once and for all, we will educate people about the importance of vaccinating children against polio, and we will work to support the polio survivors of our World! Get Ready Canada it’s time to Cycle to Walk!!
