Saskatoon certainly knows how to show its support for the Cycle to Walk campaign to end polio! We had a full day of activities today that began this morning just outside City Hall. Cycle to Walk participated in a flag raising ceremony to honour the first day of Rotary Week with Mayor Donald J. Atchison, Rotary District 5550 Governor June Cathcart, and many Rotarians and community members.

Rotarians in Saskatchewan and around the world have done so much to rid the world of polio. It was an honour to share this day with so many dedicated individuals who share in the vision of a polio free world.
After the flag raising ceremony, Cycle to Walk was given an additional opportunity to spread the message of polio eradication, education and rehabilitation at a Rotary lunchtime presentation. All five Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon filled the room with Rotaract members, polio survivors, and their guests. Thanks to everyone for your kind words and donations. The Rotary Club of Saskatoon’s generous $5000 donation to the Cycle to Walk campaign is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to meeting again at the District 5550 conference later this week.

Jody and Justine of Kamloops, BC are some new friends who are cycling from Kamloops to Regina to raise funds for the Right to Play program, which provides opportunities to children in developing countries. They learned about the Cycle to Walk when we passed through Kamloops several weeks ago, and came up to wish us well outside the Red Bull Restaurant in Radisson. The whole team wishes you all the best, Jody and Justine, with your cycling and fund raising goals!

After a brief chat with our new friends, the team departed Radisson around 4 pm, and arrived in Saskatoon at 8 pm. We’re now back on schedule, and are excited by the positive energy buzzing through Saskatoon.

Thank-you so much everyone, and take care!
