Follow Ramesh's Journey

Thank-you to the Right Reverend Rod Andrews, Anglican Bishop for the Diocese of Saskatoon, and his wife Jacqueline Plante for welcoming the team into their home last night.  Bishop Andrews even cycled with me for the first leg of the cycling day. It’s always great to start the day off right!

Today looked exactly like the photos I’ve seen of the Canadian prairies: blue skies, puffy clouds, and sunshine. The photos, however, always seem to leave out the 25 km/h easterly headwind, and they don’t show construction signs with charming phrases like “Save your windshield, slow down.“

Because of the assistance of a Member of Parliament Lynne Yelich’s office, the small town of Kenaston heard word of Cycle to Walk and how we were passing through the community. Kenaston Mayor Dan O’Handley was there to greet us as we entered town. John, a local restaurant owner, invited the team for meal at the Kenaston Hotel and Steak Pit. Thanks John for the meal, the food was great fuel for the remainder of the day. The day ended in Bladworth, where we received discounted and free accommodations thanks to the owners at the Jubilee Motor Inn.

It doesn’t matter how large of a community you are from.  The Cycle to Walk team travels through cities, towns and villages asking all Canadians to pull together and send a message across the country and beyond.  We’re all part of the global community. Together, we can and we will rid the world of polio forever.
