Today was just a beautiful day of dreams. The Cycle to Walk team started its day saying goodbye to our new friends, Audrey & Jim at Cornerhouse B&B. Thanks Audrey the great breakfast! Indian Head High School invited Cycle to Walk to share its message of Polio Eradication, Education, and Rehabilitation with students. A young man excitedly shared his dream of cycling across Canada when he is older to raise funds and awareness for a cause. I encouraged him to remain focused and positive, and wish that he, too, will be able to achieve his dreams.
After a short interview with the local media at Indian Head, I started hand cycling in pleasant, sunny, and minimal windy conditions.

During the day Gil Dash tracked down the team while we were on a midday lunch break. Gil is the cousin of Craig Lenz of Saskatoon, and was surprised by the number farmers in the area who knew of the Cycle to Walk campaign already. Thanks Gil for letting the team know the message is spreading, and thank you for your generous donation.  Later in the day, the Cycle to Walk team met up with Martha Birkett and the Giddy Up For Wishes Campaign. Martha left on horseback from Ottawa with her horse to raise funds for the Children’s Wish Foundation. Martha and her team will arrive in Calgary at the beginning of July. All the best on your journey, Martha! Congratulations on your success, and thanks for the bug net (Northern Ontario here we come)!

As the team arrived in Grenfell, we were greeted by the Mayor David Devos and Bruce Urschel, as well as Christine McDougall from the Grenfell Sun. Thank you to the community of Grenfell for the warm welcome.

En-route to Broadview, the team met up with two ladies from Ottawa who were out cycling from Calgary to Ottawa for some summertime fun . The stop sign was a perfect opportunity to spread the message of Cycle to Walk.

I wanted to end today’s blog on with a quote which is on Martha’s brochure:

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.“- Harriet Tubman
