The Very Reverend Hugh Matheson and St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral warmly welcomed the Cycle to Walk team this morning as part of its community waffle house fundraiser for the church. Thanks to everyone for supporting the Cycle to Walk campaign by donating and purchasing t-shirts. While I was at the booth, a couple who used to live in the Yukon, Murray and Carol Morison, approached me and said they both appreciated all the work that was being done by Cycle to Walk. After the service, two members of the congregation approached me with tears in their eyes. They explained to me how polio hit Kenora hard in 1953, and that many people died as a result. It wasn’t so long ago that polio was a major problem here in Canada. It’s important for us remember that. If we can end polio in Canada, we can do it everywhere.

For the rest of the day, the team just relaxed at Larry and Marilyn Buhler’s cottage on Lake of the Woods. Larry and Marilyn took the team for a sunset boat ride to see all of the beautiful scenery in the area . Once again, thanks so much, Larry and Marilyn, for making the team’s stay here in Kenora so relaxing. You are amazing hosts!
