Day 82 - Thunder Bay, Ontario - Non-Cycling
- Wed, July 2, 2008
Thanks to the organization of the Reverend Nancy Ringham, we were able to spread the word about the Cycle to Walk campaign to residents of the St. Joseph’s Care Group. At the end of the presentation, many of the residents told me they could recall fearing the threat of polio in the 1950s. It was great to visit with everyone, and thank you for your generous donations to the campaign.
Later, the en-route team enjoyed dinner with the Fort William Rotary Club. It was great to provide an update on the campaign’s progress to such an avid group of supporters. Thanks to everyone at the Fort William Rotary Club for your incredible support.
Ontario March of Dimes and the Thunder Bay & District Post Polio group also invited Cycle to Walk to share its message with their members this evening. It was truly an honour to speak before so many polio survivors who shared stories about how the disease impacted their lives. When polio survivors encourage me to keep going and offer support, it tempers my determination to see this campaign make a difference. Thanks to Sandy Rutherford, Chairperson of the Thunder Bay & District Post Polio group, and Todd Kennedy from Ontario March of Dimes, and everyone else for coming out tonight. The pleasure was mine.
