I was greeted today by the first dog in the Cycle to Walk dog fan club.

As we left Clearwater this morning, a woman named Joan stopped her car to tell me her neighbour had polio and that what we’re doing is touching her heart. Thanks Joan for your kind words and donation! At the same time, another vehicle stopped on the other side of the highway and said that she heard we were in need of billets for the Valemount area. Thanks Katherine for offering your home to us while we’re in the area!

To anyone who is reading this, please know: we’re in need of accommodations along the Cycle to Walk route.  Please contact us at the office if you can help out in any way!

Today’s hand cycle saw us progress forward about 63kms to place called Avola. I noticed we were on the right track as there has been an increase in the number of Alberta license plates. Also, I noticed the gradual climb as we headed through the mountains. They sure are starting to look Rocky! The last couple of kilometres showered me with hard rain, but on the positive side, it wasn’t snowing!

A funny thing that I learned today is all the fun things that the en-route team members do in the vehicles while I peddle away. Bertha told me that she completes inter-vehicle crossword puzzles with the radios.

Doug quickly jumped in to say he only gets to play when there’s a hard word.
