Some day spring will come – I’m sure of it. Just not today.

The team woke up in Blue River to fresh fallen snow on the ground. We drove to our flagged and marked spot on the highway (yesterday’s end point) and I began my day of cycling.  Throughout the ride today there was no concern for rain because with the elevation and the cold, it just snowed periodically.

I saw tracks on the side of the road and quite often felt like animal bait as I slowly elevated higher through the Monashee mountain range towards the Rockies. But there was no need for concern, as all I saw today were friendly white tailed deer and they had no desire to nibble on my ears.

After a long day of cycling the team and I made it just past Valemount to Tete Jaune Cache. Just like every other day, we marked the spot so that we know where to start on Saturday – my next cycle day.  Today I cycled 81.4 km, and at this point in the journey we have advanced 812.2 km of the total 7200 km.  We have climbed from sea level to 2598ft since April 12th, and we’ve been quite successful in spreading Cycle to Walk’s message of polio eradication, education, and rehabilitation!

And if you’re in the Valemount area on Friday, come see us for a 7 p.m. reception at the Info Centre, where you can learn more about Cycle to Walk and our goals for a polio-free world!
