Hometown Support and Childhood Memories!
- Fri, April 4, 2008
I can’t believe we are only 6 days away from the ceremonial start of the Cycle to Walk campaign in Whitehorse. It seems as though every where I go people are wishing me well and saying Yukon is behind Cycle to Walk!
I was picking up parcels at the Greyhound Station the other day and the employee gave a donation to Cycle to Walk right there.
In local coffee shops people are asking me how they can donate or participate in the Cycle to Walk!
Last night was an opportunity to participate in one last board meeting at the campaign headquarters prior to the campaign. So many committed, hard working volunteers and staff Shelley that are pulling all of the last minute campaign details together in order for the enroute team to hit the road soon!
At noon I attended the meeting of the Rotary Club of Whitehorse today. I reflected back during the lunch and thought with out the support of this group 3 years ago Cycle to Walk would not have blossomed into the large scale project it is today, Thanks Rotary!!
Early today I met up with Renee Mills who is assisting with planning the ceremonial start on April 10th. I met with Cathy Foster who is the owner of #41 Firth Road the childhood home where I learned to walk at 3.5years for the first time.
So many childhood memories came to mind when I had the chance to walk up the drive way and have a visit in the home! Thanks Cathy for putting up with all my reminiscing today and allowing me to use your driveway for the ceremonial start!
