This was the busiest rest day yet. I started my morning off at 5:45am with an interview talking with Sandy Coleman of Whitehorse with CBC Radio. At 7:00am it was off with Doug to do a speech at the Rotary Club of Kamloops Daybreak, and at 8:45am, Cycle to Walk had the opportunity to chat with about one hundred children at Dufferin Elementary School.  Then, at 10:30am, there was an interview with Cara at Thompson Rivers University Radio. After lunch, I hand-cycled through Kamloops for a little bit to make up that 3.5kms we lost during the Snake Pit last week in the Fraser Canyon .

In the afternoon I went to the Kamloops Tournament Capital of Canada Centre to swim Olympic-sized lengths, and sit in the hot tub. Also this afternoon, I had my first deep tissue massage since the journey began in Victoria. The massage therapist said that my chest, back, and arm muscles showed minimal signs of fatigue—in other words, there were not a lot of knots to be worked out.

Tonight my brother-in-law’s parents, John and Betty Obstfeld, traveled from Vernon to visit with the Cycle to Walk team, buy a t-shirt, and make a donation.

It has been wonderful resting in the Kamloops area. Today as I was driving with Doug in the support vehicle, a group of children were waving, cheering, and giving peace signs with their fingers to us. At a local restaurant, servers wished me well on the Cycle to Walk as they saw the coverage in the newspaper and television.

Kamloops, thank you for hearing the message of Cycle to Walk: polio eradication, education, and rehabilitation.

My body is rested and the team is now ready to spread the excitement of Cycle to Walk as we head up the Yellowhead highway!
